Network PST Scanner v1.0 by Synchrony Services (www.synchronyservices.co.uk) Whilst performing a PST migration to Enterprise Vault, our client, like most, had no idea the scale of how many PST's were "in the wild". PST's on servers are easy to locate and assess, however PST's stored on client devices that are never backed up to a network location are not. We found the Microsoft PST Capture tools far too cumbersone and as it requires a client PC agent installation, this was a showstopper for our client. Our tool will take the selected hostnames from an input file, scan them for PST's on whichever drivers you configure (A-Z) and report the PC Name, File Location and Size in a .csv file. This tool will continue to run (unless terminated) until all PC's in the input file have been captured If you have a large number of devices to scan, it is recommended running multiple instances of this tool. ********* INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE ****************** To use this tool, please ensure the following files are in the same directory: FindPST.exe - main executable DevicestoSearch.txt - input file containing hostname you want to search DrivestoSearch.txt - input file containing drive letters you want to search ** You must have read only access to the administrative shares on each device you want to search. For example, if you are searching for PST's on the C and D drives of Computer1, you will require read access to \\computer1\c$ and \\computer1\d$ As per the example input file (DevicestoSearch.txt), enter the hostnames you wish to scan in DevicestoSearch.txt. The last entry must be "loop" without the quotes. For example Computer1 Server1 Server2 Server3 loop As per the example input file (DrivestoSearch.txt), change the configuration from YES to NO as appropriate. For example, to scan C, D, E and F drives, the configuration would look as follows in the file: A=NO B=NO C=YES D=YES E=YES F=YES G=NO H=NO I=NO J=NO K=NO L=NO M=NO N=NO O=NO P=NO Q=NO R=NO S=NO T=NO U=NO V=NO W=NO X=NO Y=NO Z=NO Once completed, run the main executable (FindPST.exe). A confirmation of the hostnames and drive letters to be search will be shown before the main part of the tool runs. If you wish to exit at this point, close the window or press Ctrl-C. All output will be reported in results.csv All operational information will be reported in log.csv For any questions or queries, please visit Synchrony Services (www.synchronyservices.co.uk) *Please Note - Synchrony Services are not responsible for the mis-use of these tools or any outcomes perceived to be the result of the toolsets.
